OpenAI Invests in Startup That Uses Brain Implants to Detect Cancer

OpenAI's venture capital arm and Peter Thiel's Founders Fund are investing in Coherence Neuro, a startup developing a brain implant to detect and treat cancer. This differs from OpenAI's direct investment in Merge Labs, cofounded by CEO Sam Altman, which raised $252 million for ultrasound technology to decode brain information. OpenAI funded Merge Labs believing brain-computer interfaces would enable seamless AI interaction and plans to collaborate on scientific foundation models.
