As AI continues to grow, so does the demand for faster data storage and access. But could that eventually make traditional hard drives obsolete?
Everpure CTO Rob Lee, who argues that the transition from hard disk drives (HDDs) to flash storage is inevitable. His reasoning is that HDD performance hasn't kept pace with growing data demands, while AI workloads are putting even more pressure on storage infrastructure.
He also points to growing flash adoption beyond traditional enterprises, including hyperscalers and newer cloud providers. Of course, HDDs still have a major cost advantage for storing massive amounts of data, so the transition may not be straightforward.
